Tom Leung is running for Quincy Public School Committee in the November 2025 election season! He will bring fresh leadership, transparency, representation, and innovation to our schools. Tom is a proud graduate of Quincy Public Schools, and a father of three current QPS students. As a lifelong Quincy resident and child of Asian immigrants, Tom is uniquely positioned to make a meaningful impact as Quincy’s first Asian American School Committee member!
Who is Tom?
✅ Locally born and raised - Tom was born at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Boston, and was raised in Quincy’s Houghs Neck neighborhood. He and Thuy own their home on Huntley Road in Ward 1.
✅ QPS alumni - Growing up, Tom attended Atherton Hough Elementary School, Central Middle School, and graduated as salutatorian (second in his class!) at Quincy High School in 1997.
✅ Education -Tom stayed close to home when pursuing higher education in Boston. He graduated from Tufts University with degrees in Computer Science and Finance, and went on to complete a MBA at Northeastern University.
✅ Professional - As a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and vice president at Brown Brothers Harriman in Boston, Tom has expertise with smart budgeting, fiscal management, strategic decision making, and cost-effective solutions.
✅ Local Small Business Owner - Tom and his wife Thuy opened Medilush (formerly EyeLush) at 779 Hancock Street in 2017, where Thuy and her team provide specialized beauty treatments.
✅ Representation – Tom and his family are proud members of Quincy’s vibrant and diverse Asian community. Tom’s parents immigrated to the United States from Hong Kong, and Thuy is originally from Vietnam.
✅ Community Engagement- Tom is an active volunteer of the Dragon Boat Museum in Quincy and of the Vietnam Vascular Anomalies Center, an international non-profit organization of medical practitioners who provide clinical care, training, and expert consultations for Vietnamese children with disfiguring birthmarks.
✅ Hobbies and Interests - Tom is a huge Boston sports fan, especially the Patriots and the Celtics! He’s an avid runner, and also enjoys skiing and snowboarding with his family all winter. Tom loves working with numbers, and is a total math wiz!
What will Tom do for Quincy Schools?
As a member of the School Committee, Tom will:
📌 Advocate for transparency and clear communication so families are well informed when it comes to decisions that impact them.
📌 Ensure QPS funds are spent on what matters most to the school community, and in ways that meet current needs as well as having long term, lasting benefits.
📌Support efforts to bring a highly qualified workforce to QPS, and advocate for current educators and staff so Quincy remains a desirable workplace for them.
📌 Expand and improve special education resources and support.
📌 Advocate for morning before school hours for working parents.
📌 Enhance experiential learning opportunities to prepare students for careers and college.
📌 Invest in school building improvements to modernize our school facilities.
📌 Champion efforts that recognize and celebrate our multicultural school community.
